Peer Review Process
All manuscripts submitted to the Journal of Constitutional Law Society (JCLS) undergo a rigorous peer review process to ensure the quality, originality, academic contribution, and integrity of published scholarly works. JCLS applies a double-blind peer review system in which both authors and reviewers remain anonymous throughout the review process. This policy is intended to maintain objectivity, fairness, and academic impartiality.
Initial Editorial Review
Each submitted manuscript is initially evaluated by the Editorial Board to determine:
- the relevance of the manuscript to the journal scope;
- compliance with author guidelines and journal formatting requirements;
- academic quality and originality;
- clarity of presentation and language;
- and potential ethical issues, including plagiarism.
Manuscripts that do not meet the journal standards or fall outside the journal scope may be rejected without external review.
Plagiarism Screening
All manuscripts are screened using plagiarism detection software before entering the peer review stage. JCLS applies a maximum similarity index of 20%. Manuscripts exceeding the permitted threshold may be returned to the authors for revision or rejected by the editorial board.
Review Process
Manuscripts that pass the initial editorial screening are sent to at least two independent reviewers with expertise relevant to the manuscript topic.
Reviewers evaluate manuscripts based on:
- originality and novelty;
- legal and academic contribution;
- methodological validity;
- quality of analysis and argumentation;
- clarity and organization of writing;
- adequacy of references and citations;
- and relevance to constitutional law and legal studies.
Reviewers provide recommendations to the editor, including:
- accepted without revision;
- accepted with minor revisions;
- accepted with major revisions;
- or rejected.
The review process generally takes 4–8 weeks depending on reviewer availability.
Revision Process
Authors are required to revise their manuscripts in accordance with reviewer comments and editorial recommendations. Revised manuscripts may be returned to reviewers for further evaluation when necessary.
Final Decision
The final decision regarding manuscript acceptance or rejection is made by the Editor-in-Chief based on reviewer evaluations, editorial considerations, and the journal’s publication standards. The Editor-in-Chief reserves the right to reject manuscripts that fail to satisfy academic, ethical, or editorial requirements.
Publication
Accepted manuscripts will undergo copyediting, layout editing, proofreading, and final editorial review before publication. JCLS is committed to ensuring a transparent, fair, objective, and timely peer review process in accordance with international scholarly publishing standards and COPE guidelines.
